Let’s state the obvious, I’m not a doctor! I’m not even a renowned scientist, if you can believe it! I’m just a dude that loves beer! The sweet nectar of the Gods, some would say.
I’ve been an avid homebrewer for about 10 years now. It is an amazing hobby I would recommend to everyone. Truly, the beauty of beer is in it’s simplicity, and yet sometimes subtle complexities. At the core of any beer you will find four basic ingredients: barley, hops, water, and yeast. That is it, it really is that easy to make beer! It is so fundamentally simple the German’s even created a purity law in 1516, a.k.a. The Reinheitsgebot, that dictated the only three ingredients in beer could be barley, hops and water (*cough, they didn’t know about yeast yet, *cough). While beer really can be that simple, the explosion of craft brewing in the United States in recent years has showcased how amazingly complicated and creative we can be with our favorite beverage. Whether you are looking for a dark chocolate stout for that perfect cold day or light wheat beer with a hint of orange for those hot summer days, the possibilities are seemingly endless.
If you have not gathered, I really love beer! If we’re being honest, just between you and me, I enjoy a tasty brew or two on a daily basis. For every flavor of beer in the world, you could probably also count the number of studies out…
